Canyon Bicycles BV is one of the proud new sponsors of your student cycling club. Canyon, the well-known bike brand of champions such as Mathieu van der Poel, sells its bikes directly to customers through our website. We do this without going through distributors and dealers, which allows us to keep our prices as low as possible. Our bikes are designed and assembled in Koblenz, Germany, where our founder Roman Arnold also comes from.

Canyon is based in Eindhoven with its local service centre where we help our customers with technical and customer service. As an online brand, good service is especially important to us. That is why we work with a Dutch team to provide the absolute best customer experience; the passion for bikes is at the heart of our team.

This year, however, we will increase our presence in Eindhoven with the opening of our brand-new Canyon Factory Service on which we are currently working. With this new location, we are taking our service level towards our Dutch customers to a higher level, we will tell you more about this later. Classified’s mission is to enable next-level cycling experiences by developing ground-breaking shifting technology.

Belgian-Dutch technology company Classified has developed a revolutionary shifting technology, Powershift, which replaces the functionality of the front derailleur. The Powershift shifting system is embedded in the rear wheel hub and allows shifting in a fraction of a second, under full load and with a wide gear range and small step sizes. Classified has also developed high-end carbon wheels specifically designed for the Powershift hub. Has cycling fever gripped you too? Cyklist is Eindhoven’s cycling and food café on the NRE site and exists from, for and by cycling fans. In the cycling café with restaurant, all major tours and classics can be followed on a big screen while enjoying a bite to eat and a drink, and you can visit the cycling museum about Bert Oosterbosch. Cyklist also organises cycle tours, for which two-wheelers can be hired on site, from racing bikes to tandems and cargo bikes. On the pedals!

Cyklist is also one of the regular go-to venues for Squadra Veloce when it comes to organising activities. From monthly get-togethers, pub quizzes, guest speakers to start and/or end locations of tour rides.

Op Noord, active meeting is the location for all imaginable active outings for the family, children’s parties, a family day or a company sports day. The park is also very suitable for after-school sports, educational programmes, outdoor training and teambuilding. In addition, we offer ATB clinics and Skike courses. You will find us at Oude Bosschebaan 11 in Eindhoven. Squadra Veloce also trains every Tuesday evening at the cycling track located next to the pavilion of Op Noord. After each training session, we usually have a cooling or warming drink at Op Noord.

Especially for members of Squadra Veloce, Op Noord has a deal for renting Mountain bikes. Instead of €21.50 per day, renting an MTB for a Squadran will cost €18.50 per day. For more information click on this link.

Here at the Student Sports Centre Eindhoven (SSC), we pride ourselves on providing an unforgettable student experience and creating a community that students, staff and alumni are proud to be a part of. For years, our more than 13,000 sports card holders have rated the SSC with an 8.0 average. What makes the SSC the unique heart of the Campus?

Largest sports programme in Eindhoven

400 lessons per week in 70 different sports, fitness and (special) courses supervised by qualified (top sports) instructors. You can play free sports in our extensive facilities. At our 38 student sports associations, you have the chance to shine in sports, gain management experience and, of course, enjoy student life. Seven days a week, before, during or after college hours, the SSC is the meeting place on campus for exercise, sports and socialising. At the SSC, you challenge yourself, make friendships for life and develop skills you didn’t even know existed. So step forward from the crowd and take that opportunity to develop yourself.

Get the best out of yourself: get involved!

At the SSC, you can also develop yourself socially and professionally. Student sports associations are there for students and run by students. From the president to the water carrier, students show initiative and leadership in every area. Every year, the board as a whole changes, making way for a group of new students who want to gain valuable experience for the future. Apart from board positions, a club offers various places on committees, such as for sponsorship, an (international) tournament, team weekends, activities and lustrum. Leading your club is an unforgettable experience. You already make decisions during your student days that you thought were reserved for old wise gentlemen and ladies in neat suits.

Home away from home 

Members of the SSC come from all provinces of the Netherlands, from every European capital and from all corners of the world. More than 100 nationalities play sports every week within the walls of the SSC. The SSC is the meeting place for students and employees of Fontys and TU/e. Sport itself is already a low-threshold way to build a (new) social life in Eindhoven, but in addition to all sports activities, we organise various other activities for our campus visitors and residents, such as sports weeks, pub quizzes, Mix&Meet events, winter specials to celebrate Christmas and an extensive summer programme.

Diversity and inclusiveness

The SSC is proud of its diverse community at TU/e and Fontys. Top sport, performance sport and recreational sport are all possible at the SSC. Both the beginner and the advanced can play sports at the SSC. Native Dutch or roots in another country, we offer everything bilingual: Dutch and English. To encourage diversity and inclusiveness, we have appointed a Diversity & Inclusion officer. Together with the students and staff, we provide a safe sports environment where everyone can feel at home; a home away from home!
